Interview with Little Anthony about Life, Success, Loss, Determination & Faith
Once again I had the pleasure of interviewing another stalwart artist, someone whose life story was an incredible mix of success, loss, determination, faith, learning and growth. As always it was a pleasure to interview Little Anthony, The original Lead Singer of The Imperials. I love his energy, his passion for music and his commitment to reach into peoples lives. With hits such as 'Tears on my Pillow,' 'Going out of my head,' Little Anthony is still performing and wooing audiences the world over.
Before Little Anthony was known as Little Anthony he was called Anthony Gourdine. He got his nickname from legendary rock 'n' roll DJ Alan Freed. It has been said that Alan thought he was a girl when one of the promoters played 'Tears on My Pillow' to him. This promoter had a lot of clout in those days if they liked it, they played it. When he enquired if it was a girl singing and was told it was a boy, he stated that with a voice like that, he must be little and he called him Little Anthony and as they say, the rest is history.
I love the philosophy by which he lives by and his enthusiasm for life and to speak into lives. I also love his authentic no-nonsense, yet humorous take on life.
Here Little Anthony gives an inspiring take on how to live life abundantly even when you are down. How to change mindset, how to galvanise and how to rise above. He shares many of his life experiences.
During the interview we touched on the spate of killings in the UK due to the rise in killings from the beginning of the year which seemed to culminate during the month of April. I requested Little Anthony to give his thoughts, views and offer samples of inspiration that would speak into the hearts and souls of the communities being affected. Little Anthony did this with such wisdom that I too was truly inspired to keep 'the faith.'
